The Canada lynx, which is officially listed as "threatened," received a belated Valentine's day present from the federal government yesterday. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service expanded the lynx's protected territory, which is now 20 times greater than it was before.
Territory in six states received the "protected" designation. Territory was declared "protected" in three new states (Maine, Idaho, and Wyoming), and the existing protected territory was expanded in Washington, Montana, and Minnesota.
